Stay Safe During Hurricane Harvey
Hurricane Harvey is expected to hit the coast of Texas, with rain beginning Friday afternoon and lasting through at least Sunday morning as the hurricane moves onshore.
Take special precautions before, during and after Hurricane Harvey has made landfall. Please follow these precautions:
- There is the potential for power outages, flooding and road closings. Follow all precautions and obey all safety, traffic and utilities advisories.
- Limit or postpone travel
- Listen to local advisories regarding evacuation
- Stay away from windows
- If you are outside, cover your head to protect against flying debris
- Avoid highway overpasses
- Avoid flooded roadways and seek alternate routes as necessary
- Store at least three days of water and food for your family
- Keep extra batteries for flashlights
- Prepare important documents on a water safety bag or container
